De Italiaanse kunstenaar en oprichter van de neofuturistische beweging, Daniel Schinasi (1933, Egypte – 2021, Frankrijk), zou dit jaar 90 zijn geworden, waarvan zestig jaar gewijd aan de schilderkunst. 

Zijn grote muurschilderingen beschrijven zijn boodschap van het neofuturistisch humanisme met verschillende onderwerpen. De grootschalige werken rond het thema beweging vormen dan ook de rode draad in deze tentoonstelling. Zoals het tien meter grote paneel gewijd aan de stad Nice. De kunstenaar vestigde zich daar nadat hij begin jaren negentig Parijs had verlaten, terwijl hij ook op het platteland bleef produceren in Casino di Terra, tussen Cecina en Volterra. 

Schinasi’s werken zijn te vinden in de collecties van musea en openbare instellingen zoals het Musée du Petit Palais in Genève, het Museum of Science and Technology in Milaan, het Bat Yam Museum of Modern Art, de Corcoran Gallery in Washington, het Joods Museum in New York, het Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, de collectie van de stad Angers, het Cagnes sur Mer Castle-Museum, het U. Nahon Italian Museum of Jewish Art in Jeruzalem, het MEISFerrara Museum, de Livorno Foundation in Livorno en de Cecina Art Gallery, de Universiteit van Pisa, de Italiaanse ambassade in Monte Carlo, de Ben Uri Art Collection London. 

De tentoonstelling is samengesteld door Sarah en Manuela Schinasi met de medewerking voor de catalogus van de schilder Katia Cirinei. De catalogus zal tijdens de opening worden gepresenteerd door de internationale architect en museoloog James Bradburne. De tentoonstelling is tot stand gekomen in samenwerking met Paola Cordone, directeur van het Italiaans Cultureel Instituut in Amsterdam en de Ambassade van Italië in Nederland.

Tegelijkertijd met deze tentoonstelling zal de tentoonstelling “A Message in motion – Drawings and Documentaries around the Neofuturism” in het Italiaans Cultureel Instituut in Amsterdam te zien zijn, met originele tekeningen over thema’s die Schinasi dierbaar zijn: muziek, componisten, de natuur, het werk van de mens, als ook documentaires rond het neofuturisme.

Pulchri Studio Daniel Schinasi – A Message in Motion The Italian artist and founder of the neofuturist movement, Daniel Schinasi (1933, Egypt – 2021, France), would have turned 90 this year, with sixty of those years dedicated to painting. His large murals convey his message of neofuturist humanism through various themes. The large-scale works centered on the theme of movement thus form the common thread throughout this exhibition. Such as the ten-meter panel dedicated to the city of Nice. The artist settled there after leaving Paris in the early 1990s, while also continuing to produce work in the countryside at Casino di Terra, between Cecina and Volterra. Schinasi’s works can be found in the collections of museums and public institutions such as the Musée du Petit Palais in Geneva, the Museum of Science and Technology in Milan, the Bat Yam Museum of Modern Art, the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, and the Jewish Museum in New York. Simultaneously with this exhibition, the exhibition “A Message in Motion – Drawings and Documentaries around Neofuturism” will be on display at the Italian Cultural Institute in Amsterdam, featuring original drawings on themes dear to Schinasi: music, composers, nature, human work, as well as documentaries about Neofuturism.
